She disgraced the husband by pulling his manhood while she paraded him around Unclad.
The bitter woman decided to take laws into her own hands so she laid a trap to catch the man red handed. When she caught him, she grabbed his peen and threatened to tear it off his body if he resisted. The husband had no option than to obey so the wife took him around their compound in the ‘hood.

Man Murders Pregnant Girlfriend, Buries Her In Shallow Grave

s
A 39-year-old man, Chamberlin Ojoko, from Ezeakam Eziudo community in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, Imo State, has landed himself in very serious trouble after he procured a concoction for his pregnant girlfriend, Chinonye Ella, 25, in the guise of aborting the baby, only for her to die and he dug a shallow grave and buried her.
After committing the atrocious crime, Ojoko sneaked back to PortHarcourt, Rivers State, to his wife and children, not knowing that the hands of the law would soon catch up with him.
According to reports, Ojoko had gotten the lady pregnant and not wanting to take responsibilities, he procured the
herbal concoction, took her to an uncompleted building where he gave her the drink which caused a fatal adverse
reaction, resulting in her death. He then went back home, got a shovel and dug a shallow grave behind the building and buried the corpse before escaping back to his base. But his undoing was a young girl who saw what he did and promptly reported to the owner of the building who reported the matter to the police. Ojoko’s elder brother, Pastor Sopuruchi was then arrested and he led detectives to his base in Port Harcourt where he was arrested.
The State Police Commissioner, Taiwo Lakanu, while parading the suspect, said Ojoko met the lady in a bus in December last year and after they struck up a relationship,Ojoko would travel regularly to Owerri, where he would lodge with the lady in a hotel and have fun till she became pregnant and informed him of it. Ojoko himself also confessed to his crime:
“On July 20, 2015, I took my girlfriend to an uncompleted building around 6:30pm. My girlfriend took the herbal
medicine, but later she started writhing in pain. Then she died.I ran to my house and took a shovel; I carried her body to the side of the building. I dug the ground and buried her in a shallow grave.”

EFCC denies obtaining suspects’ statements under duress

Mr Ibrahim Lamorde, the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday denied the allegation that suspects being investigated by the commission were made to give statements under duress.

Mr Wilson Uwujaren, Spokesman of the EFCC, in a statement in Abuja, said Lamorde stated this during a visit to the commission by officials of Amnesty International.
“The EFCC follows the rule of law; our statements are recorded and are not taken under duress.
“Our rooms have cameras in them and the state-of-the-art recording facilities in the EFCC interrogation rooms will not allow any interrogator to humiliate a suspect,” the statement quoted Lamorde as saying.
The statement said that Lamorde, who expressed gratitude to the team for opening an office in Abuja, described corruption as the worst type of human rights abuse.
“Western countries must end the impoverisation of developing countries.
“They must reject and return stolen funds so that respective governments of the affected developing countries could use the money to better the lives of their citizens.”
The statement quoted Mr Colm Cuanachain, the Senior Director, Office of the Secretary-General, Amnesty International, as saying that nations committed to anti-corruption war had the tendency to experience ‘‘phenomenal growth’’.
Cuanachain, while expressing the readiness of Amnesty International to partner with EFCC, noted that corruption had contributed to human rights violation in the North-East and the Niger Delta region.
He said that death penalty, as punishment for looters of the treasury, was not the best option in the fight against corruption.

My wife using charms on me, Man tells court

Court dissolves marriage over festish practices
An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Monday dissolved a five-year-old marriage between one Ololade Adeolu and wife, Adebola over fetish acts.
Delivering judgment, the President of the court, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, said he was convinced that the couple could no longer live together as the petitioner had insisted on divorce after several court interventions.
“The court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the wife still claims she loves her husband.
“The couple can no longer stay together because the marriage has broken down totally, both parties are no longer husband and wife, they are free to go their separate ways.” Omilola ruled.
The petitioner, Adeolu, 56, a civil servant, had filed a suit seeking the dissolution of the union because of fetish practices by Adebola.
He said that Adebola was so fetish that she would always advise him to seek black powers.
“I caught my wife digging a hole in front of my house and buried many charms. She had on two occasions taken me to spiritualists for black powers unknowingly.
The petitioner said that his wife was always controlled by her mother, stressing that she only listened to what her mother asked her to do and always ignored his orders.
“My wife is being controlled by her mother on how to run my house. She used to tell me that her mother is her priority that I am secondary in her life.
“Adebola was ungrateful that I established her by renting a shop and stocked it with electronics and computer gadgets. She did not open the shop till the two-year rent expired.
“My wife collects money from me by violence, takes it to her mother and also transfers food stuff I bought to her mother.
“There was a time she collected N50, 000 loan to pay N75, 000 on my behalf without my consent to give her mother, I paid the money I knew nothing about,” he said.
Adeolu pleaded with the court to dissolve the marriage, saying that he was tired and no longer in love.
However, Adebola, 40, denied all the allegations.
She said that she did not bury anything in her husband’s compound neither did she take her husband to any spiritualist.
“I did not bury anything in front of my husband’s compound, I am not a fetish person.” she said.
The mother of two said that she did not forcefully collect money to give to her mother and did not transfer food stuff to her.
Adebola begged the court not to grant her husband’s wish but all her pleas were in vain.

National Arts Theatre Lagos, 199 other monuments to be lit blue on Saturday – says UN envoy

United Nations  – The National Arts Theatre in Lagos would be among 200 iconic monuments, buildings, statues, bridges and other landmarks across the world that would be lit up blue on Oct. 24 to mark the founding of UN.
The theatre, located in Iganmu, Lagos State, was completed in 1976 in preparation for the Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC) in 1977.
Ms Cristina Gallach, UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, told reporters in New York on Monday that other monuments include the Empire State Building, UN Headquarters, Tokyo’s SkyTree Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Athen’s Temple of Zeus, Edinburgh Castle, and many others.
She said that the lighting up of the 200 monuments was part of an exciting new global campaign which helped unite global citizens and promoted the message of peace, development and human rights.
According to Gallach, the day is dedicated to the global efforts and achievements of the UN.
The under-secretary-general said this year’s observance would begin on Friday with a special concert featuring a Korean Traditional Music Orchestra and other renowned international artists.
The UN, she said, would celebrate an extraordinary event marking its 70th Anniversary as renowned artist Cristobal Gabarron unveils his monument entitled: “Enlightened Universe” in New York’s famed Central Park.
The monument, she explained, was an interactive sculpture formed by a sphere and surrounded by a spiral of 70 figures, one for each of the 70 years since the UN was created.
She said that the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, would make opening remarks and would be joined by UN officials, staff, diplomats, city officials and global citizens.
She added that the event would take place in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield entrance on East 72nd and 5th Avenue in New York.
After its display in New York, she said the artwork would be displayed in major cities across the globe.
Oct. 24, 1945, the UN came into force when the five permanent members of the Security Council ratified the charter that had been drawn up earlier that year.
The members were France, the Republic of China, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Since 1948, the event’s anniversary had been known as United Nations Day.
It is an occasion to highlight, celebrate and reflect on the work of the UN and its family of specialised agencies.
Meanwhile, many activities are organised by all parts of the UN, particularly in the main offices in New York, the Hague (Netherlands), Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria) and Nairobi (Kenya).
These include concerts, flying the UN flag on important buildings, debates on the relevance of the work of the UN in modern times and proclamations by state heads and other leaders. (NAN)

World Bank Wants More Time To Compile Abacha Loot

World BankThe World Bank has said that it needs more time to compile and furnish the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, with information on the spending of the loot recovered from the late military dictator, General Sani Abacha.

SERAP says such information would not only enable the Nigerian masses to know the status of the recovered loot but it would also equip civil society organisations to engage the government on greater transparency and accountability.
A statement issued by SERAP’s Executive Director, Mr Adetokunbo Mumuni, said that it has received a letter from the World Bank, acknowledging its request and asking for more time to be able to supply comprehensive information on how the recovered Abacha loot was spent.
According to SERAP, the said letter dated October 15, 2015, was signed by Ann May of the World Bank Access to Information Team.

The group had on September 21, 2015 sent an ‘Access to Information’ request to the President of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, asking him to release documents detailing the projects to which the loot recovered from Abacha was applied, as well as the implementation status of such projects.

sarakiJudgement in the suit instituted by Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, against the Code of Conduct Tribunal has been adjourned indefinitely at the Appeal Court in Abuja.

The Registrar of the Court of Appeal, who made the announcement on Monday, gave no reason for the decision.
Dr. Bukola Saraki had filed an appeal challenging the legality of his arraignment at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
In the appeal argued by his counsel, Mr Joseph Daudu (SAN), the Senate President asked the appellate court to set aside the proceeding of the Code of Conduct Tribunal held in September.
He asked the court to set aside the criminal charges of false declaration of assets, filed against him by the Federal Government.

Saraki also challenged the composition of the Code of Conduct Tribunal which has only two members instead of three, adding that since the tribunal did not sit in compliance with the constitutional provision of three members, his arraignment should be declared invalid.

PDP Accuses FG Of One-sided Anti-corruption War

PDPThe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Federal Government of dictatorship.

It said that unfolding events have confirmed the party’s position that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is only using the anti-corruption posture as a tool to witch-hunt PDP members and perceived political opponents of the APC government.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Olisa Metuh, said that no member of the All Progressives Congress, despite the public petitions of corruption and squandering of state funds, has been invited, questioned or arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mr Metuh further said that the party had verifiable reports from its key members that agents of the APC have been approaching them to join the APC with threats to use the EFCC to victimize them should they refuse.
The PDP, while calling on the Federal Government to end its alleged dictatorial tendencies of selective anti-corruption war, added that the orchestrated investigation of Senator Godswill Akpabio was politically motivated and targeted at weakening the party ahead of the 2019 elections, by virtue of Senator Akpabio being the face of opposition in the National Assembly.
The President’s Adviser on Media, Mr Femi Adesina, said that it was untrue for Mr Olisa Metuh to claim that the President’s anti-corruption war was one-sided.

While stating that “what is of interest to Nigerians is ‘did this people commit the crime?’ not whether it is one-sided”, he gave the assurance that “the President has always maintained that even when it affects APC members, the person concerned must go and defend himself”.

We Will Do To Boko Haram What We Did To Biafra War – Obasanjo

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria has said that Nigeria will win the war against Boko Haram the same way the country defeated Biafra secessionist during the civil war.
The civil war which occurred from 1967 to 1970 was an attempt by some states to break away from Nigeria and establish an independent Biafra state.
According to Daily Trust, the former president expressed optimism that the country would put an end to the insurgency. He said this on Monday, October 12 after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari on his delegation’s mission to study Columbia’s efforts in the fight against the country’s largest rebel group, FARC.
Obasanjo said it was not until every Boko Haram fighter had died before the country could claim to have defeated the insurgency. Rather, Boko Haram could be considered defeated as soon as the army had the upper hand and other measures had been put in place.

Obasanjo said: “Oh yes. If we won the civil war, we can win this one. But like the Columbian said, we are not waiting until we kill off every insurgent to say we have won. I believe that once the military has the upper hand, other measures that have to be taken will be put in place. There will be measures of socio-economic development, education, employment. All that has to go into the process of eventually winning the war and saying here is Uhuru”.
He also said that the three month target that the president gave to the army to defeat the insurgency would help them to have a focus.
“The president must give a target. When you give somebody a target, you give him something to aspire to, giving him an objective. Target is not cast in stone. I believe that if you are talking of getting the upper hand, gradually, we are getting the upper hand.
“We are not there yet, but we are getting close. And once we are getting upper hand, we move on and do other things.”
He also explained his reason for visiting the president
“I’ve come to see the president for two reasons. The first one is the one you’ve just seen. I brought a delegation of those of us who visited Columbia last year under the auspices of a foundation which I’m the chairman…We went to Columbia to see how the Columbian authorities were handling the issue of insurgency which had been with them for more than 50 years. As a result of that visit and the experience we had, a book was produced and I said to them that it would be interesting for us in Nigeria to learn as much as we can learn from the experience of Columbia.
“The second aspect of my visit was the work that both the president and the ECOWAS gave me in Guinea Bissau. The last time, we were able to resolve all the issues of getting a new Prime Minister. This time, we had also been able to resolve the issue of now forming a government.”
He added that he was enjoying his retirement.
“I am enjoying it wonderfully well. Otherwise, I will not be here with you.”
