Environmental Protection: World Bank Frowns At Neglect Of Projects

The World Bank has warned states who are beneficiaries of its environment protection programmes in Nigeria against complacency.
The Country Representative of the World Bank, Mr Amos Abu, sounded the warning in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital when he led a team to visit the Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jibril, over the implementation of environmental protection intervention programmes in the country.
He disclosed that the World Bank would no longer tolerate non implementation of projects awarded in such states.
According to Mr Abu, the execution of those projects would no longer be taken as business as usual.
Mr Jibril assured the apex bank of the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring the implementation of projects directed toward protecting the environment.
