The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has said its proposed national conference is needed in order to reposition the party.
It therefore said it was wrong to assume that members of the National Working Committee of the party were working at truncating the conference.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, stated this in Abuja on Thursday.
Metuh spoke against the background of the crisis that followed the party’s directive, asking those behind the proposed national conference to stop it.
Metuh said, “We need this conference to fashion out ways to rebuild our party. A lot of corrections need to be made due to many mistakes in the past.
“And its only party members that will contribute to ensure that it happens, so we need that conference. So we are confirming that the conference must hold.
“But we are in need of all the organs, critical stakeholders of the party to participate and make inputs.”
