Poly students seek Oyo govt, others help
FOLLOWING injuries sustained by their colleagues in a fatal motor accident that claimed some lives on Oyo-Ibadan road, several students from Polytechnics across the country staged a rally in Ibadan yesterday, calling on Governor Abiola Ajimobi to come to the aid of the recuperating students. While speaking in behalf of the students, President, National Association of Polytechnic Students, Mr Adeyeye Olugbenga said the rally was meant to call attention of Oyo State Government and other well-meaning Nigerians to provide money for the treatment of remaining accident victims lying critically ill at the intensive care unit of the University College Hospital, Ibadan. He said; “We decided to embark on this rally in respect of our colleagues who were unlucky on the 8th of February in a ghastly motor accident. Having lost four of them with two staff, we still have four others lying critically ill at the UCH.” “Some of them under the intensive care unit require a lot of money. The school management of the Polytechnic Ibadan have tried so much, they have footed part of the bills.” “But, considering the enormous fund required to sustain the lives of these ones, we believe that the government of Oyo State is a listening government especially when it comes to students matter. “That is why we have come here in a peaceful manner to attract their attention.”
