The Department of Petroleum Resources, Kaduna Zonal Office, on Tuesday, sealed eight petrol stations for selling above N87 per litre pump price.
Apart from selling above the approved pump price, some of the fuel stations were sealed for allegedly adjusting their pump to deceive unsuspecting customers.
DPR’s Zonal Head of Engineering and Standards, Mr. Yahaya Maishera, said the petrol stations were caught in the illegal act during a routine monitoring of service stations within the metropolis.
The stations sealed are Tonsjos Service Station, Kachia road, Al-Mudeco Service station, Nnamdi Azikiwe Bye-pass, Mobil Service Station and Shema Petroleum among others.
Maishera added that the affected stations would remain closed, while the owners would pay N100,000 fine.
The marketers, he said, would sign an undertaking not to flout the rules of the agency again.
He noted that the agency had put in place measures to ensure that depot owners and marketers would sell products at a rate that would enable the marketers to sell at official pump price of N87 per litre of petrol.
With the resumption of production at Kaduna refinery, residents of Kaduna now buy petrol at official price.
According to the agency, no fewer than 100 trucks of petrol owned by different independent marketers had loaded from the Kaduna refinery for onward delivery to the states within the northern region.
Maishera assured residents of adequate monitoring of the distribution of the products in order to ensure they were not diverted by marketers.
He warned petroleum marketers against diversion of fuel and other petroleum products
