Ondo digitalises C of O, pegs cost at N25,000

The Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, declared on Thursday that issuance of Certificate of Occupancy in the state will be done within eight weeks and at the  maximum cost of N25,000 in urban areas of the state while a lesser amount will be charged for non-urban areas.
While presenting digitalised Certificate of Occupancy to  beneficiaries in Akure, Mimiko said the new digitalised C of O would eradicate fraud and unnecessary gatekeeper or agents, adding that the new systemic titling of land registration was a way of moving away from the old order.
“In the past, getting aCertificate of Occupancy will take up to three years, but with the new digitalised registration, you will get it within eight weeks and with a maximum amount of N25,000 in  urban areas; maximum of N20,000 in the semi-urban areas and maximum of N15,000 in the rural areas of the state,” the governor said.
Mimiko informed the people that getting a C or O was very important if the state was to develop and make progress.
He stressed that a house without a title was useless, adding that the best legacy left behind in the developed world wa an estate.
The governor, who noted that authentic C of O was power to its owner and could also be used as a collateral, added that the digitalised C of O was the best in Nigeria, reminding the people that land was a very important resource.
He said the digitalised C of O had a solid security input that could not be forged or syndicated, informing the people that over 14,000 property had been demarcated in Akure while about 6,000 of had been publicly displayed.

Mimiko assured the people that all houses in Akure would acquire their titles within the next five years, pointing out that the major difference between the developed world and the underdeveloped world was the land title.
