Child Trafficking: Nigeria Immigration Arrest Benin Republic Man
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service has arrested a 26 year old native of Republic of Benin for attempting to give out three girls for house keeping in Nigeria.Briefing journalists in her office, the State Comptroller of Immigration, Abimbola Ojo, explained that the suspect was apprehended in Ilesha Baruba, the headquarter of Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State while trying to cross into the Nigerian border with Republic of Benin with the girls.The suspect, Sunday Yakubu, was said to be taking the girls to Ikoyi near Ogbomosho to work as house maids.Sunday Yakubu, who spoke in Yoruba, admitted to the crime of child trafficking and blamed poverty for the crime. He added that the girls who are between the ages of ten and 13 are the younger sisters of his wife.
