A 30-member Elders Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has been inaugurated by the state Chairman of PDP, Chief Edwin Uzor, with a charge on the members to give useful, elderly advice and guidance that will move the party forward.
The state PDP Boss, who underscored the imperativeness of elders’ council for the party, stressed that their wisdom, knowledge and experience will go a long way in providing guidance for the party.
Chief Uzor disclosed that members of the elders committee, which has Chief Benjamin Elue as chairman and Bro. Emmanuel Ogidi as secretary, were chosen from the federal constituencies of the state.
“I wish to state that you were all chosen for this assignment on merit and I have no doubt in my mind that you will justify the confidence reposed in you by the party by giving your elderly advice and guidance to the party”, he said
The PDP boss noted that as elders, they were relied upon for efficiency in many tasks, just as he contended that the qualities they possess “are of essence in leading PDP to greater glories, especially now that the party is in the opposition at the centre”.
While congratulating them on their appointment, he assured of the support and cooperation of the party to enable them succeed.
Responding on behalf of others, the Chairman of the Elders Committee, Chief Benjamin Elue, who commended the leadership of PDP for finding them worthy to serve, promised to live up to expectations and turn the party around for greater exploits in future elections.
He said that their appointment was a clarion call to serve and reposition the party, adding that all hands should be on deck to restore the glory of the PDP.
