Police Disrupts APC Protest At INEC Headquarters

Security operatives disrupted a protest by members of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
The group, who were led by the party’s governorship candidate during the 2015 governorship elections, Hon. Dakuku Peterside, are demanding for the release of the election materials used during the elections for the prosecution of their cases.
However, they were stopped by security operatives attached to the commission’s headquarters.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nyesom Wike, was declared the winner of the governorship election in Rivers State by INEC.
Mr Wike defeated the candidate of APC, Mr Dakuku Peterside, with a total of 1,029,102 votes.
Mr Peterside polled 124,896 votes according to figures released by INEC.

Mr Peterside has complained of some electoral malpractices by INEC officials, accusing them of being partisan and promised to go to the tribunal.
